Storyboarding

At first, we thought we could just write down our story simply on the story board, but soon found that out ideas were all over the place, and even though our ideas were great, they were very displaced. This was our first go before deciding that we needed to properly plan our story board. This issue arose after we wrote our first draft of the script because we thought we knew exactly how we wanted to lay it out, when in fact we only knew what we wanted the characters to say. 

After we stopped writing this, we decided to bullet point each scene so we could order our ideas, which ended up looking like this: 

After we had done this together in class, we agreed we were ready to draw our final story board, including coming up with a title. 

It was really hard to come up with a title as any ideas we had either sounded cheesy or have already been taken. After throwing a few ideas around in conversation, we knew we wanted something car related. That's when Mitch and pierce came up with the idea of C,B,A, standing for clutch, brake, accelerator. However it also stands for 'can't be assed' amongst our generation, so we thought it was a good play on phrases as well as appealing to our target audience of teenagers. 

The Beginning

Inspiration

After watching Sixth Sense in class, we knew we wanted to stay away from the horror genre as, with our budget, we knew we wouldn't be able to do it justice. However, a genre we all agreed to enjoying was an action or thriller film. We agreed on this after watching the opening to Good Fellas, which had us all gripped and made us want to watch more, which is exactly the effect we want our opening to have on our audience.
We started planning this by watching some adverts for some of our favourite films, and the one we were most drawn to was Fast and Furious.

Obviously, we can't create anywhere near as big or dramatic effects as they do this this clip, especially not in 2 minutes, but with the right camera shots and angles we can hopefully create a convincing performance. 

After brainstorming for a while, we came up with the storyline of two posh boys getting into an argument with some more rough lads and end up settling the argument over a car race. We then developed this idea by starting with the two main characters in a dark room tied up, and flashing back to the day they got into the race. During the flashback, the credits will run, and the main character will be doing a voice over. All of this can be seen in our first draft of the script:

However, we decided to always keep our minds open about the storyline of our opening. This lead go many discussions and eventually, a slight change in the storyline. We mainly came to this conclusion because of timing issues, and knew we needed to cut down all the ideas we had. 

Sound  Another way we can create a convincing performance is through sound. One of the main ways films create a certain atmosphere is through the soundtrack used. After we came up with an initial concept for our opening, we tarted to brainstorm songs we find inspiring and that would fit into our theme. That's when we all agreed that Underdog by Kasabian would create tension and build up suspense when we need it before the inevitable car race. 

However, due to copyright issues, we can't use this song so instead we will recreate our own version using Garageband. This will be done later once we start filming.
